Anyone know the purpose of this plate? | | | | Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,877 . | . Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,877 | If the axle seal were to leak that grease shield should catch it and direct it out a hole in the drum to keep grease off the shoes. | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,112 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,112 | I believe there is a hole in the drum that should be aligned with the hole in the flange. To me this design feature is a bit of wishful thinking. If the seal leaks it will always get to the shoes. | | | | Joined: Jan 2009 Posts: 54 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2009 Posts: 54 | Thanks guys, sounds like it is not real important if it is missing. | | |
