Hello All,
After reading dozens of posts on the interior color of war years AD trucks I was more confused than ever. After reading the thread that quoted Bob Adler as saying the "correct" color was grey not champagne I contacted autocolor library. Here is the reply.
The main interior color is Champange Metallic DAR-TCPINT1950(H)
The accent color is Cambridge Gray Dark DAR-TCP31174(H)

There are actually 2 other colors used in the cab, steering wheel,shift, & column
kick panels,seat frame,lower door,dash&window mouldings
A pint of color in Acrylic enamel is $36.96 ea. and shipping approx $11.95-15.95

When we produce original colors, we do not use offsets (colors selected that appear similar but lack the proper appearance in sunlight). We have a complete lab stocked with the correct toners and metallics to make the COLORS OF YESTERDAY come alive today.

The way I understand it the "war years" are considered to be 51 52 and 53. That would be the Korean war. Jimmie.

The 1953 standard cab interior color was "Sheen Gray (Metallic) Poly" (on all but Suburban). I do not know about interior colors for 1951 and 1952.

You have got me on the certified colors. I see that the price of the certified colors is about double of any of the vendors that I use for parts.
Maybe that makes it certifyable, or maybe me for spending 70 plus bucks for a quart of paint!!
My 52 still has bits of the champagne interior paint, unfortunately to faded and not large enough to try to color match. Do you happen to recognize the paint codes a viable code to take to paint jobber? Jimmie.

What brand(s) paint are locally available to you?

I have three local autobody supply houses, they carry different brands. Plus I have a buddy that works at one of them, so I could probably get some uncommon brand.

I used a 90's BMW interior Champagne and I would challenge anyone to see the difference. But it was a darn sight cheaper and spot on IMO. I used the rest of the money for some real champagne.

allright!! do you happen to have the paint code that you used? And did you get one bottle of great champagne? Or a couple of bottles of good champagne? ;-) Jimmie

The can (a pint) was mixed by the bodyshop owner whose booth I rented when I painted my 53' and it only says "BMW-97-2004 trim".

My 53 interior is gray but the heater is brown. The seat backs are black. Are the heaters supposed to be brown? Leo
