(corporate 10-bolt, 12-bolt, or 14-bolt rear end.)
It can also refer to the # of lug nuts. 8 bolt is normally a 3/4 ton. 10 bolt would be the 1 1/2 or 2-ton. referred to as the name of the axle a Eaton Axle.
To Help you Better. I'd be nice to know which truck you're working on.
