| | | | Joined: Dec 2013 Posts: 224 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2013 Posts: 224 | Began the tedious chore of re-doing much of the box and fenders on my 3100—1/2 ton. There was a lot of “creative” work done by POs to secure the box to frame. It worked but I’m trying to make it more original.
Seems originally there were 5 cross sills. I have 4. One of my questions is about two of the cross sills going over the gas tank of the ‘47 and ‘48 models only. I’ve done research- suppliers, Mar-K etc looking for these two sills which are flattened where the sill passes over the beneath the bed gas tank. Those provide clearance so the sills don’t hit the top of the gas tank. Does anyone know if they are reproduced by anyone? Is my best bet to try contacting someone with AD trucks? It looks to me like these are not attached to the box sides but are more to support the bed boards.
Anybody have any insights? Shortly I will post in the “Parts Wanted” section.
