Mike,

http://www.1954advance-design.com/chev-specs/1954-t-ser.jpg

The 5 after 54 is probably an S?

1954 6400 made in St Louis Missouri

However that number at the end is quite long
5051430 - 1000 = 5,050,430th truck off that assembly line (a very big number - something is wrong)

Can you post a photo of that ID/Serial-Number?

mcannon -- attaching a photo is pretty simple but may not be obvious because this forum software refers to photos as "attachments." Just just bear with me and I'll walk you through it. When you reply to this thread, look at the bottom of the text window you are typing the words in for your reply. See the button that says "Use Full Editor" ? Click on it.

Now look beneath the box. See the box where it says "Post Icon" and all the emoticons? Now keep looking further down. Look for the blue letters that say "Attachment Manager" and click on that link. When the attachment manager dialog box appears, just follow the directions -- it should be straightforward from there.

Here's mine. Now show us yours smile

Mike,

Has the head been drilled to match the 261 block's "extra" coolant passages (2 small holes between pairs of cylinders)?

Mike,

What is the date casting code on the block?

It could be a later replacement engine/block/head. A friend who was a GM parts specialist found some interesting replacement blocks. They were cast to be multi-purpose replacements (with a little doctoring).

Feel free to send me images and let me know what thread you want them posted in.

Mike,

This is John logged in as you for a test. Not sure what you are doing, but as you can see, I attached an image (logged in as you).

All I can tell is to follow the directions and try it again. Sorry for the trouble!

John

You bet. There's a big chapter of the Jerry Fan Club up here, too.

BTW, speaking of Western TN, my 3804 (in the picture) sold new from Dickson Chevrolet (Dickson, TN) and delivered the 1st TV and aerial sold in TN ("Charlie's Radio Repair and Appliances"). Go Vols!
