Pulled the engine today, not looking good for it. Clean looking water came out of cylinders 1,4,6,7, Not looking forward to pulling the heads.... That will be tomorrow, I do have a 327 available maybe.... any opinions?
I have a 327 in my 58 2-ton. Supposedly those were a well rounded engine. Good balance of power and economy.
I guess it depends on what you want from your truck.
With the info you provided above, I am assuming the engine it came with is a V-8. 327 is bigger and newer than original but, a good running newer 350 may make more power and get better mileage (depending on build).

Thanks Ol'Red, I am in Spavinaw all summer and Catoosa all winter because I have a small campground there. I really don't have anything else to say about the engine other than its pulled and probably junk I only removed the plugs. I'm just exploring the truck at this point looking at what I need to do to it. I had in mind to keep it as original as possible, but its looking a bit harder to do. I really didn't need an engine rebuild on top of all the other work to do to it. I guess This ends my time in the engine shop for now.
