I when I took the cable off the speedometer a bunch of brass shavings fell out. I took the speedometer out , cleaned it and it works fine but where the square end of the cable goes in is stripped. Is there any fix for this or am I stuck getting a new one? I couldn't seem to get the stripped part out of the casing either. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,746 Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) | | Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,746 | Use a wooden kitchen match as a template and fill the stripped section with something like J-B Weld or Epoxy Steel. Then drill the wood filler out carefully, and use a square needle file to adjust the hole size if necessary to fit the cable end. I'd strongly recommend a new cable- - - -the end of the old one is probably worn undersize by now.

'47 GMC 1 ton w/ 302, NP-540, 4wd, full width Blazer front axle.
'54 GMC 630 w/ 503 gasser, 5 speed, ex fire truck, shortened WB 4', install 8' bed.
'55 GMC 370 w/270, 420 4 speed, grain, dump bed truck from ND. Works OK.
