There are posts that describe methods for doing the welds, and how to smooth and treat the welds for future rust prevention. It occurs to me that treating the backsides of the welds..those inside the door.. is a problem due to inacessibility. I can reach down inside the door with a spray can in my hand but have little control of what I do with it. Any solutions?
meansam | | | | | Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 2,384 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 2,384 | On mine, I washed the doors out really good, let then dry a few days & then poured Rust Bullet(Zerorust, POR-15) inside & kinda moved the doors around to let the stuff cover well. Then after that dried, I filled the corners where the rust starts using brushable seam sealer. This method has worked on my Ford,for 6+ yrs now, & it sits outside year round. Puting some paint like Rust Bullet in the doors with a rattle can should do the trick. Most rust occurs where there is standing water so be sure your weep holes are OK.
