I am in the process of rebuilding my doors and have installed new glass, glass channel, and vent window seals in the passenger side door. I ordered the materials from Jimmy Carter ,and had the glass cut locally and installed into the frames.

When I install the side glass and wing vent into the door, the side windiow is so tight it is unsatisfactory. The glass will roll up and down but needs "help". Since the door glass is installed inside the metal border, I don't see any way it can be to big. The vent wing is positioned totally by mounting screws. I tentatatively concluded there was something wrong with the new glass channel.
I just received a batch of parts from Classic Parts.com , and received a catalog from them. In their catalog, they offer an option of glass channel for both with, and without, metal border. Jimmy Carter offered no such option. I did not know there were any trucks of the 1960 year that DID NOT have the metal borders.It seems Jimmy Carter may have sent mme the glass channel for the "no border". Any ideas?

My 63 has a frame around the passenger window and it functions well. The drivers door has no frame and the window kind of falls out of the track. I assume it is because the metal frame is gone. If they changed the windows they would have probably done it in 1963 since that was when they changed the suspension, motor etc. What year is your truck?

Some 60s trucks had the AO9 "laminated glass" option, til at least 1964 that I know of. I'm not sure why, but I have owned two 64s out of the same St. Louis plant only a few serial #s apart-one had tempered(no frame), one had laminated(framed)glass. Yes, the window run is a different thickness between the two. Brian
