We used to use a short piece of plastic tubing to recirculate the fluid from the output port(s) back to the reservoir and purge as much of the air out of the piston bore as possible. Now most MC's come with a couple of plastic plugs for the output ports and the piston is cycled through a very short stroke repeatedly until bubbles stop appearing at the pressure relief port that gets uncovered at the very back end of the piston travel. Hold the cylinder in a vise and stroke the piston 1/2" or so a couple of dozen times to purge the air out of the cylinder bore, then bolt the cylinder into place and quickly connect the line(s). Then the wheel cylinders need to be bled to remove any air that gets trapped in the brake lines during the master cylinder swap. A set of "speed bleeder" screws with a one-way check valve at the wheel cylinders makes the process a one-man operation most of the time. Jerry

The Little Brit Cars I used to work on had master cylinders with a bore and stroke approximately equal to a Tootsie Roll- - - - -no real need to bench bleed 'em! LOL! Jerry

Tim, I was talking about My 3600 (52.) But my question included all that I'd worked on and driven. My 3600 will have a master cylinder from the Holister Road Co. Because of my 4 wheel disc brakes
With a valve to put more pressure to the front wheels.
If it is, people here should be able to describe how to bench bleed it (this would not be described in an old truck manual). And/or, people here might post a link to a page that describes how to bench bleed, or post a link to a Youtube demonstration?
The bench bleeding procedure I described above will work on just about any master cylinder single or double outlet- - - -simply plug the output port(s), fill the reservoir with fluid, and short-stroke the piston until bubbles stop appearing in the reservoir. Jerry
