I am new to the forums and these trucks. I have been restoring and building things for as long as I can remember, but this is my most ambitious project yet. I found a 49 GMC 1/2 ton in amazing shape just 1.5 hrs from my house and I had to have it.
So I am going to rip the truck down and rebuild it with a 350. In the interest of doing things hopefully as right as I can I want to start from the ground up.
I'm curious about a reasonable size of rim for these trucks. In my mind 18's with a reasonable side wall should give me a comfortable ride??
My main question though is what has everyone found to be the best suspension setup, this truck will be only highway and city driven. Do you leave the rear springs alone? Do you parallel them??
For the front I know the topic varies but this build is attempting a budget so I'm looking for recommendations of front suspension upgrades? No air but IFS setup for sure.

haven't figured rear out . Thinking of tci leaf kit. Have used coil overs on other rods. coil over would let me adjust height easier
