Then hunt up the owners (they are the ones sitting in lawn chairs directly behind the truck) and ask them what they did and how they did it. You’ll make some new friends and may even get some offers to help with your build.
One recognized expert on dropped spindles and axels is Nostalgia Sids out of Guthrie, Okla. nice guy and he will answer questions. Has a website.ðŸ›

He modded his AD. Dont recall how much he dropped, but he recently went through the process. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2016 Posts: 916 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2016 Posts: 916 | I lowered my '50 3600 using a 3100 front axle. To do the front properly, it is a little bit involved- the front axle comes completely apart, then Sid will stretch the axle. Smallest drop is 3 inches. You must ship axle to/from Oklahoma and your steering arms get modified as well. He did a great job on mine. There is a waiting list and you pay in advance for your spot in line- so call early if you are serious about doing it.
By the time you are done though, you could probably have installed a more modern A-arm front suspension clip with drop spindles and have better brakes as well, for just a little more money. I'd seriously think about how long you want to keep your truck and what your long term plans are for it. If you are considering going with a V8 at any time in the future, I would say go with a different front suspension. No doubt you will hear many different opinions regarding this. Good luck!

| | | | | Joined: Jan 2000 Posts: 2,074 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2000 Posts: 2,074 | You can delete a spring leaf or two until arch is gone and springs are flat (check springs and poss have rebuilt) there's also a mono leaf spring out there, big and little tires may help. Also can go with dropped axle just be aware once you swap that axle tie rod probably will hit the springs so then you will need to modify (bend) the steering arms!!! Modern shocks are a must as well.
