Finally it looks like paint time. I would like a dark green, rustolium dark hunter green is close. My vin says 704 which looks like a dark green as I have found some original paint on the firewall.The chart calls this a polar green. I took these numbers to the local paint supply and they could not cross it to a val-spar color. also looked at ocean green and that would work. So the questions are, Does anyone out there have a pic of a polar or ocean green truck. And what would be a good current paint number to ask for? I am not looking for a metallic paint .

What brand and type of paint do you want?

Least expensive would be spray can (or, roll-on). Most expensive would be name-brand two-part urethane or base-coat/clear-coat.

rattle can would get it on the road quick but I would rather have something that will last a few years. probably a two part urethane. Last paint job I did was lacquer and enamel so my knowledge of the newer paints is limited.

2-part Urethane (direct gloss systems)
Omni is their low-price line
Concept DCC is there high-price line

They also have base-coat/clear-coat line(s) of paint.

Thanks a lot I like the sherwood green. looks close to what i found on old body. will try another paint supplier and see if they have the ppg.

Here's the only way to pick your color.

Pick from the color book two or three different colors you think you might like and have the store make some up and spray it on a spray out card. If you don't have any spray equipment, have them load it into aerosol cans. Use a good primer for a ground coat.

Once dry, take them outside, look at them in direct sunlight, then the shade. Bend them to get some shape... pictures on the internet are not true to color match.

Don't get hung up (not that you are) with color names or brands. Buy the most expensive paint they offer because there is no such thing as good, cheap paint. The cheaper the paint, the more coats you'll need. simple fact.

I went through three or four shades of orange this method before I made my final decision.

One last opinion... it doesn't really matter what color you paint so long as you LOVE IT! Painting it any other color is going to leave you regretful.
