For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Feb 2015 Posts: 22 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2015 Posts: 22 | I know that's not funny anymore..... I have a 59 Apache truck with a 235 - 6 cyl. Trying to get wipers working. There is one line from firewall to carb. another line from fire wall down near fuel pump. I know the fuel pump provides vacuum to the wipers. Now there is a 6" long hose from bottom of pump around to what looks like one of the bolts holding pump to block...
Where should the vacuum line for wipers be hooked to ?? what is port into block for ????
Thanks...

The pump doesn't provide all the vacuum- - - -it just enhances what the engine produces. If there's room to put a reserve tank somewhere under the cab, etc., it might not even be necessary to run a dual action pump. A piece of 4" PVC pipe a couple of feet long with caps glued to both ends makes a very good vacuum reserve tank and it's easy to hide along a frame rail. Just use a one-way check valve like the one for a power brake booster to keep the vacuum in the reservoir, and another hose to the wiper motor. Jerry
