Intake varies from 2 to 12 thou and exhaust 7 to 18. Don't know the history of the truck really. Just rebuilt the carb because it wouldn't start or accelerate well and found it was recently gone through and not done correctly. Are the valve seats getting worn, or did someone possibly not know what they were doing? Thanks in advance.

Being Canadian, supposed to be the 235 that the US got in 54? 2 nuts on the cover, but has 60 PSI gauge? I'm still figuring this old iron stuff out. I followed the procedure on deves tech net. Could the rocker face be a bit beat out making it seem tighter on the feeler gauge? Engine is really quiet except what sounded like 1 or 2 valves rattling a bit. Thanks!

Yes, grooves worn into the rocker-arm face cause bad readings/settings.
I carefully grind-flat and polish the mating surfaces.
What gap/lash settings did you try to use?

Whoever was in there last used only RTV to seal the cover so that was a treat to remove. Also the acorn nuts had a pile of washers underneath and liberal amounts of RTV as well. Any idea what's supposed to be under the acorn nuts? As weather allows I'll look at the rockers. I've read to add anywhere from 0.002-0.005" extra to a cold engine

If over tightened, can distort valve cover.
