I am nearing the end of my restoration of my 53 5 window, and am having a problem getting the seat cover bottom and back. I'm looking for maroon and this has been on back order at Jim Carter since Christ was a child. I called them yesterday and they called their supplier to get a ETA and they told Jim Carter there is no ETA, in other words they could careless when the customer gets their order. Even though the lady at Jim Carter was very nice , she called me back and said they would not tell her when they will make it. I tried the filling station too and they do not stock it and it would have to be made from the same place Jim Carter gets theirs from. Is there any other places where a person can get this in the right shade of Maroon and made in the USA?
Thanks in advance,
Steve

Classic Parts is worth a try, even though they are near to Jim Carter Truck Parts. Maybe the have a different source?

Maybe someone here has bought a set from Classic Parts, and maybe they will comment on "fit & finish".
I have never had a problem with anything bought from Classic Parts (3 restorations).

As you ponder over other vendors' quality (fit & finish), consider this:

Years ago, I bought an 8-piece ($$$) 1954 Suburban set from Jim Carter before I knew about 1954 Suburban seats/colors (I was told/assured that the color was correct for 1954). The set he sold/sells for 1954/55st is not correct (it is correct for 1953).

I also found out later that there are two different sizes of Suburban cushions for 47-55 Advance-Design Suburbans. The one set he sells was not correct for my year/size seat cushions.

A few years ago, JC assisted by allowing me to contact his local upholsterer to make a set with the correct colors/sizes (with me paying JC for the new, correct size/color set).

I bought a seat of seat covers for my 1950 3100 from Classic Parts this past summer. I am very pleased with my fit and finish. Buy most of my stuff from Classic and am always happy.

Does Classic Parts offer maroon?

I tried to blow up that picture from Classic parts to see if the pattern is similar to the original material. The original has black color in the fissures, with the maroon color on the raised area. I couldn't blow it up enough to see it.
I have the Jim Carter maroon material and it has that dark fissure feature.

Has anyone bought a seat cover kit where the upper front edges of the bottom seat cover was curved at the corners, exactly like the original? I covered my seat with a kit from LMC, but the corners are not anywhere close to the curve that the original had, and it required stuffing the squarish corners with batting, which I think looks awful...

Seat edge should fit tight and look like this: Bench seat curved edge

Or this: Bench seat curved edge

I bought a maroon cover from Jim Carter which has round corners and fit very nicely.
