I bought an electric wiper motor to convert the vacuum wipers on my 1951 1/2 ton stovebolt (6volt). The motor has two speeds with parking. The installation went pretty smoothly although I did have the clearance issue with the choke cable other folks have mentioned. My problem is when you turn them on, they rotate the wrong way. When the wipers are turned on, looking from the front of the truck,the passenger side shaft first rotates clockwise - which would push the wiper down off the windshield. I'm pretty sure I have the arms connected to the motor pins correctly. I think they'll only fit one way: short drivers side on the top pin, and the long passengers side on the bottom pin. I got the motor from Chevy duty (part # 67-064B) and it says it will work on my truck. Am I missing something?

Is the ground a connection that's obviously grounded to the case of the wiper. If not try swapping the power and ground. While using rather small fuses just in case.

Your 6 volt system might have a positive ground. And the wipers a reversed ground. Check this before doing anything

Is is possible that the mechanical assembly was installed upside down?

I had this problem with an electric wiper kit and had to loosen the little set screw that held the linkage attachment on the shaft of the motor.

Took a few times moving it a little bit at a time to get it working in the right direction.

I left the linkage unhooked and would turn the wiper motor off, and let it go to the park position. Then would loosen the little set screw on the motor so I could turn the link attachment to the position I thought would work best. Took a few minutes experimenting with it to get it right.

That sounds like it might fix my problem. The installation sheet said i might have to make a minor adjustment using that set screw, but I couldn't imagine it could make it reverse direction. I'll give it a try.

It can, and it takes a few tries to get the timing right. One thing that helped me was I had the old vacuum motor and would hold it in the appx position it would be under the dash to see where the arms would attach and then try to get the linkage on the electric motor in the same position. But it still took a few tries. I couldn't get a full sweep, but finally got the maximum sweep once it was set.

Well, it turns out I was wwrrrrrronnnggg when I said the wiper arms could only go on one way. After I switched them so that the drivers side arm was on the bottom pin and the passenger side arm was on the top, things began working properly. Thanks for all the support.
