Will I be able to pull the oil pan off and out to replace the gasket just by removing the “screws”? Should I replace the screws with bolts? Any advise would be helpful.
Leaks pretty bad.
Thanks Don

It's just semanitcs. Most of us think of wood screws or sheet metal screws when someone says "screw". But what we all know as bolts are also called hex head cap screws. Look them up on McMaster Carr or another site. They're just screws with machine threads instead of tapered threads like wood screws have.

Put the bolt in a socket with an extension and screw them in with a ratchet.

The middle bolts get tightened to a lower setting than the four corner bolts. Working from memory here, but as I recall the middle bolts get set to 6-7 foot pounds and the corner bolts get set to 12-15. I also use lock washers.

That will give you a couple more inches of clearance between the pan and the axle as you lower it. If you remove any rod bearing caps, be VERY careful to account for the number and placement of all the shims between the rod and the cap. That's how the oil clearance of the rods is set. Jerry

Thanks Don
