For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Jan 2002 Posts: 866 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2002 Posts: 866 | Have spent the past 3 hours trying to put a repo grill on our 53. The holes just won't match up. We have losened both fenders and inner fenders. Good thing we have tape around everything or we would have a ton of scartches. Our original grill had some of the outer bars cut for fog lights, so we couldn't use it. The quality of the grill is definitely poor. I guess we will try to elongate some of the holes and try again. Will let you know how it turns out! | | | | | Joined: Apr 2001 Posts: 439 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2001 Posts: 439 | Would it be possible to loosen up the grill some, make sure the holes do actually line up, and then tighten it up after a little movement?
Good Luck. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2002 Posts: 866 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2002 Posts: 866 | I will give that a try Colin. Just about ready to go tackle it again. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 662 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 662 | http://www.chuckthetruck.com/page16.html "If I hadn't taken it apart, I would have sworn this grille came from a different truck..." | | | | | Joined: Jan 2002 Posts: 866 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2002 Posts: 866 | Well I finally got it late last night. I used awls in the bottom 2 holes and had my son pull up on both of them at the same time to get the top bolt in. It worked on that side, the other side only needed one awl and some pulling on it. Grand total 6 hours to get the grill in. That includes the top and bottom valances. Bottom was much tougher than the top valance. But it sure does look good now!! | | | | | Joined: Dec 2002 Posts: 39 Member | | Member Joined: Dec 2002 Posts: 39 | which vender did you get the grill from , Iam looking at get one rather pay more for better quaility | | | | | Joined: Jan 2002 Posts: 866 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2002 Posts: 866 | Motherstruckers.net Is where we purchased the grille.
