I painted a 54, in the street, with primer, using one of those vibrating electric paint guns. it turned out surprisingly good. it was a clear dry sunny and warm day, no wind. primer was gray enamel.

unfortuntately the 54 is gone now. but it did take me from NJ across Texas to Denver and California. Back across the northern plains to Jersey. You have to work hard to kill a stovebolt.
