I searched the bed forum and could not find what I was looking for so I decided to try the big bolts. I have a 49 4400. it came with an all steel stake bed. Not correct for the truck. Would like to recreate a period correct bed for the truck. Research shows that it was originally a bed with round corners, wood top surface. Any idea where I can source the parts? Any reproduction parts available? Thanks for any information!

the one that was on my 55 2-ton was wood with a steel band around the perimeter. The band had a bit of a lip on the top and bottom so it was more like a piece of channel (but not real beefy). Sorry, I don't have any real good pics of it. I am sure someone else will come along that has some good ones of one similar to what should be on yours. If nobody else has any for you, PM me your email and I can send you a better resolution of the ones below.
I currently have the wood bed off of the truck. If you need detail pictures I can provide as it is upside down in the barn. I am going to disassemble the bed this winter and refurbish as necessary. In the meantime "coincidently" I am putting a steel bed on for working purposes. The wood bed will be for show.

Just because it doesn't have an original GM manufactured bed, doesn't mean the bed you have isn't period correct. There were several outside Companies, that offered beds for new Chevrolet cab, and chassis, trucks, to be installed by the Dealerships. The GM beds only came on trucks, that were ordered special, with a bed already on the truck when delivered.
