The standard wheels were black. Someone with a 1952 Truck Data Book or Restoration Kit Specifications Manual will have to post information on a deluxe equipment RPO.

I do believe standard was black and on optional deluxe cabs the wheels were painted body color.

Yes Blake, it was part of the the Deluxe option on AD series and also sported two 1/4" pinstripes on wheels painted the same as the lower body color. The stripe color was the same as the single body stripe (in the beltline)and had a 3.5" space between the two sripes. There is some confusion in my mind as to striping on Standard series wheels. My source claims two 1/8" stripes on black only or none at all depending on interpretation.

I know my 53 3100 were black with a 1/8" silver stripe just below where the hubcap is.

So how can I be sure what my 52 was? I think it would be cool to have the Mariner blue wheels but if they were originally black, then I'd like to paint them black.. how can I tell for sure?

Taken from 1952 Chevrolet specifications. truck.

6:00x16 Std wheel...3100 series has 3 stripes.
5/32 wide...
The 15 inch wheel for a 3100 was a RPO item..
and were standard on 3600 & 3700..No stripes.
The 17 inch wheel was std. on 3800 & 3900 and
had (2) 5/32 stripes...The 17 inch wheel was an
RPO item for 3600 & 3700...
If I find the RPO on the wheels I will post
on it...My own 52 truck does not have the deluxe cab, but had body colored wheels with the
triple cream colored stripes that matched the belt
line stripe....BB

Bill, my 53 3100 had a yellow stripe around the cab, you are the only person I've seen call it a belt strip, is that what it is called? I have only seen it on one other truck and it was tape, I would like to paint it on my cab. ?how do I paint it on? ? 2 how do I reproduce the silver stripes on my wheels?

Beaver53, It actually was a painted stripe
installed at the factory when produced by a hand-
striper...the striping color is #93-530 cream medium
Inquire about a hand striper (pin striper) in
Your area to see what they might charge to stripe
Your stovebolt..I haven't decided on re-applying the
stripe on My truck yet, I kinda like it without it..
Also, where the roof and cab join is called a
belt line, thus the reason for belt stripe...

Bill's reason for the name beltline sounds good. I called it a ribbon once on this site and was quickly corrected.

I had always thought that the name "belt" was because someone thought that it looked like a belt.

On Advance-Design (47-55) trucks, the cream medium striping color was also used with several other exterior colors (4 or 5 different striping colors were used, depending on the exterior color).

The pickup cab's top was atttached to the cab bottom at the top of the beltline, but that was not the case for panel body trucks. On those trucks the roof was attached (to the lower body) above the windows.

A longtime friend of mine that recently passed
was a custom pinstriper...His Father was also a pin-
striper that striped model A's bodies and wheels...
He also did His best work when He had steady
nerves, so the factory allowed Him to dip His beak to keep the stripes straight... grin
Loren passed after His Dad, but His two Sons both equally great custom stripers currently, sort
of makes a statement that the talent of pin-striping
must be handed down from one generation to another.
