The rest of the StoveBolters, that were not there, or never attended, would like to hear about the Reunion.
Tell the good, the bad and the ugly.
Be honest and tell it like it is.
I can take the ugly.

Vicki said her cookies were not as good this year.

I had a great time. I enjoyed seeing all of the trucks, checking out the swap meet, and meeting people from the board. It was nice to put some faces to the names. Thanks Don and the others for making me feel so welcomed. I'll see what I can do about bring Ol'66 next year.

Don, Vicki's cookies were too good. If I wasn't trying to lose weight I would have eaten the whole container. Kathy ate my share. The seminar on tubing was good as usual. I wish we could get the host club to send the Judges to our corner. We get overlooked every year unless we take our trucks to them. The visiting amongst the group is outstanding and good friends are made. The hotrodders are encroaching on our real estate. It was ok this year with our truck numbers being so low but I could see it becoming an issue if our numbers go up. The Hamburger truck pulling in on the sidewalk next to us cut down on our foot traffic. All in all it was a great weekend.😳

Regardless of his protestations, Don 2ton did a marvelous job, it was well organized and went smoothly The gift giveaway was over the top. Something he did not have control of, I think ?. The weather cooperated sunny and rain free. Unfortunately, I packed for cooler weather. On a personal note, I left later on Sunday and the traffic, for the most part, was not a problem, light and moved well except for a few road construction sites, even on Sunday. My 54 for had a couple of issues which did not impede my trip but caused some concerns, fuel mileage down by 5 mpg, I got 2 hrs on a tank rather than 3 as before. But that caused me take more rest stops so I got home rested after 1203 miles round trip. Hope to make it next year with the 54 but maybe what ever I am driving at the time. wink Being old and not remembering names anyway, I hope the truck next to me got started and home safely, I think he said he had 150 miles to go.

Keep the thoughts coming everyone.
It's really the folks that are there that make it a great event.
All the people that helped and brought door prizes .
I give a big thanks to!!
It's a team effort.

But if I get anymore Atta Boys, I'm going to ask John to double my pay.

When I unloaded "Cletis" the '62 C-10 from the trailer this morning I found a partially full syringe and a couple of syringe caps in the bed. The meth heads in the van parked next to me at the EconoLodge were up at 2am shooting up and using Cletis as a dumpster. Had I been driving around KC and been stopped I'm not sure my badge would have stopped the cavity search. We will be staying somewhere different next year.☹️

Regarding the Judging..
The Judges do not "overlook" anyone. In a few special cases (Ie. Trucks that are too loud, big, or unsafe to move) I have in the past brought judges to specific trucks to judge them on site but it is a rare and handled on a special case by case basis and decided on by myself (operations director), the show director and judging director. typically we have done this during the judges break when they are usually getting lunch or a few minutes of downtime. Due to the number of participants (216 this year) it would be very difficult for 3 judges to track down each truck, judge it and get those results input in a reasonable amount of time. This is why we went to drive through judging many years ago. We did do on site judging early on in the show.

Regarding the Econolodge..
That area is a rougher part of town and why we moved away from the American Inn and other hotels out that way a few years ago, the show recommendation was the La Quinta Inn further up north in the Barry road area.

Thanks Mongo. Just not used to the big city ways of judging. Most of the shows we go to the judging is done by walking around the grounds. If you didn't want to be judged you didn't put a number in your windshield. It would help if the judging information was included in the entry forms. As for the EconoLodge I guess we are slow learners. You guys did a great job, well organized.

Vicki and I are game for a new place to stay next year.
When we got back to Econo lodge last Saturday, there were about 6 young guys in front drinking beer.
One of them was throwing up in the grass not far from the front door.
Guess I had better unload my trick carefully.

Thanks
Martin for the info.

A few years back had almost all the gas siphoned out of my truck at American Inn. About 8 0r 10 young people with ratty s10 trucks were staying there. BTW I wondered why my truck was not judged and I entered at Don suggestion for a count.

Well now we know Ron. I really don't care about trophys or ribbons I just wondered why we weren't being included in the judging.

You have to enter to park, with us.
Or you have to park in the spectator parking area.
I always enter the F-250 so my my truck is near HQ.
It all goes to a good cause.

I never have and I parked where I wanted and I always donated what was equal to the entry fee if they would stop talking to each other long enough to take it. I just used your name, Don. It carries a lot of weightyahoo

I, too, am interested in feedback -- keep those cards and letters coming, folks! Also, let me know if I should up Don's pay. smile

Martin -- I can assure you that its easy to win a trophy at Kansas City. Shoot, a couple of years ago (2013?) I won first place in my class and brought home a big honkin' trophy. The trick is simply having the finest truck present in your class.

Barring that, you can do what I did and have the only truck present in your class that was actually registered in the show and win it by default .... smile

I won a trophy the first year I went also.
It was because my truck was the stage.
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?...wC32qEcHEuS4jJZoCB_znZcMe4gA&theater

As I remember, you got your trophy when your truck was the stage.
Do we have a pattern here?

Even though I missed out on Saturday I still had a great time. From what I hear, Theresa did a good job filling in for me.
Also, it was nice to actually have a truck there for the first time.

Looking forward to next year.

I think Don did a great job! He's got that special touch to make everyone feel welcome. I believe everyone had a good time.
As far as the pictures goes, I don't know how to download them on the Stovebolt. So do I burn a copy and send them to
John and Peg or call John and Peg and have them walk me through it????

PS. Gloria's got me on a new health and fitness plan from eating all of Vicki's cookies. They were Awesome!

Terry, you will have to find a photo host site like Google images but not Photobucket. Load your pics to that site then come back here and put a link to the album you created. One of our more savvy IT folks can walk you through it.

I'm looking forward to next year as well. Hopefully, the planets, moon, sun and everything else line up.

We FINALLY found another house to buy that has an existing second garage, so I might even be able to get the Binder unloaded from the trailer and get the engine troubleshot! Otherwise, I'll be entering my "new truck".

Another quality post.
