I have a 235 with a Rochester carb that I am trying to drive to the reunion but this happened this morning as I was getting the truck out to gas up and clean: the motor was smoking so I lifted the hood and found fuel leaking out of the carb and even more troubling was a oily black fluid oozing out of the exhaust port that is second back from the front of the motor. Could it be flooding so badly that it is pushing a fuel/oil mixture out from around the gasket?

You have to deal with the flooding first. If you can stop the fuel flow to the carb and let it run dry, it may dislodge some dirt under the needle, if there is any. A better approach would be to take the carb apart and replace the needle and seat. At the same time you can see whether the float has gas inside .
