I found the original fabric upholstery under some vinyl covers which were hog ringged in place.
There is no evidence of fasteners, does the spring frame some how hold the upholstery in place?

They are hard to remove and hard to install. Hog rings can be used if your upholstery has enough material on the bottom edges.
Jim Carter Truck Parts and Classic Parts (and maybe ithers) sell the original style clips.
