On the panel behind the cab that bolts to the top of the running board there is a hole on the top end toward the cab. The tab on the other end bolts to the fender. Is there suppose to be a bracket on that corner? 1951 3100.

1/2 ton, 3/4 ton, 1 ton?
On 1/2 ton the answer is no.
I do not know about 3/4 and 1 ton.

it is a 1/2 ton Just seems like that panel is a little flimsey on that end. Do not have the fender mounted yet so we will see. Thank you.

On my 1 ton there is an S shaped bracket that bolts to that front tab, snakes under and around the board and bolts through the "step" surface of the board. It provides a lot of support and on the very long 1 ton splash apron it definitely needs it. I will check my 1/2 ton board tomorrow for you and snap a photo of the bracket.

1/2 tons have the s-bracket at the front of that panel.
(Misunderstood tigman's question.)

Thank you Fox. i was wondering what that single hole in the running boards was for lol. I saw those brackets somewhere but did not know what they were for. Another mystery solved.

Approximately 1/2". You can loosen the bolt on the running board and slide the bracket to help set the gap.

So that is what they look like! Both of mine have rotted ends and I haven't found replacements. Does anyone have a source or maybe a fab drawing to make a functional replacement?
