What's up with that. This is a 1955 GMC 2nd with three on the tree. The axle connected to the wheel on the ground stays stationary, and the other gears rotate around it. As long as both wheels have traction, they pull equally when the driveshaft turns the ring and pinion. The axle speed differentiates around turns to allow the inside wheel to turn a shorter circle. All differentials work that way, even the ones with limited slip capabilities. Jerry
