So I wanted to get some other opinions regarding the color choices that I believe made up my 54 P/U when new.

I think the model was deluxe as the it has all chrome appointments on the exterior, bumpers mirrors, grille window and vent window trims.
Interior was painted horizon blue, not gray as I've seen listed on the charts. I believe horizon blue is original because it is inside the doors, under
the dashboard.

The steering column and wheel is also painted horizon blue and maybe the steering wheel itself is a little darker than horizon blue.

Unclear about upholstery color or headliner and visor as they are not original.

Anyone seen this type of combination before?

posey,

Sounds to me that you have one of the four factory 1954/55st two-tone blue color combinations.

Where did you obtain the name Horizon Blue?

Transport (light) Blue and Mariner (dark) Blue were the standard factory colors that year.

I'll see if I can find more of my documentation.

Stovebolter Greg Hill might some documentation.

I saw a 54 color chart with a horizon blue color chip on it that looked similar to the color in my cab, it was an assumption. There was a very good example of it behind the serial plate on the truck.

Are you referring the color called light blue on your sheet?

horizon blue might have been a car color - it was not a 1954 Chevrolet truck color
Were you looking at a 1954 Chevrolet car color chart?

Light Blue is in the Bulletin (above) - that would be the Transport Blue
Dark Blue would be the Mariner Blue

Check the 47-55 Truck Colors Tech Tip for original truck paint chip sheets/name/codes.

Note that paint chip colors have been changed by age (as have been the colors on the truck - changed the least, as you point out, in areas not exposed to light/air/wet).

I dont know, my days of being a purist are over, I believe I will go with what I think matches in my truck. Although, It does look like the steering wheel is some blue color in between.

posey,

There is no reason why anyone should have to justify the colors they want to paint any part of their truck.

I was interested in where you found that color-name, "horizon blue".

Tim, the transport blue and Mariner blue are not the interior colors. What they are saying is that the two tone blue interior was available with either the transport blue or the mariner blue as exterior colors.

As far as I know, there were not names for the interior colors. I had my two interior blues "scanned" before I removed all paint from the cab. Another member used my formulas and had at least the lighter blue mixed up and shot. He sent me a piece from the bottom of the paint gun and it was a very good match. Jim Carter sells the interior colors but my experience has been that his lighter blue is a little too gray. Close but not quite a match to what my truck was originally.

Thanks, Greg

What do you think the 1954 interior colors might be for the yellow bottom, and white/beige top?

Your early documentation shows green and glue two tone combinations. I believe that later, they added other combinations. I Like your idea of using Roger James color combination for your yellow and white/beige combination.

OK. that color is very close but not quite. I bought a shift handle and gear indicator housing from a powerglide equipped car from that era and as mentioned, it was very close but not quite a match when I compared to my original lighter blue on my 54 truck interior.
