They only wanted $50 extra to install the w/s so I said go ahead-took him nearly an hour but no leaks & no breaks. We have Binswanger in the Midwest and they do vintage auto glass replacement, as well as field swaps. I suggest calling a few in your local area and quiz them about their experience with your era of truck, as well as they fee to do the install.
I am having two windshields and two small back windows replaced on a couple of my '66 Chevy trucks and will have the glass shop come to my place to do the work and also request a quantity discount, since I have having four openings done. I will make sure I have the replacement glass and the proper replacement rubbers on hand. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 47 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 47 | I don't know if they still exist but 30 years ago i when i lived in phoenix i used Bishop Glass when someone smashed my windshield and rear window on my suburban. they were an old time company then and if i seem to recall they were competitive price wise.
i love my dog's 1965 suburban.

The 60-63 is a little harder because of the curved glass. | | | | | Joined: Jan 2002 Posts: 866 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2002 Posts: 866 | Safelite wouldn't touch my 53 in Washington, pa. Said they didn't have anybody that could do it. | | | | | Joined: Jul 2004 Posts: 427 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jul 2004 Posts: 427 | | | | | | Joined: Feb 2007 Posts: 22 Member | | Member Joined: Feb 2007 Posts: 22 | I would make sure to take your time on taking it out, I just took out my rear window and front took me doing it myself about 30 min. Just dont force it out and make as many cuts as you can. good luck, I am also looking to have my windows put in as well. let me know who you use maybe they are down here as well!?
if its not broke....you didn't drive it hard enough!

I just would refuse their service if they came to my door to replace a windshield on a newer car. I don't now how to say HACKERS politely. oops Let's just say their in to much of a hurry to do it right. I apoligize to the few safelite employees who do do it right. | | |
