I have a question about the side window felt channels for the sliding windows.
Is there supposed to be drain holes cut or drilled in the felt channels just above oval cutouts for the drain tubes ?

I was talking to a guy that has a really nice suburban that he completed a couple years ago. He got caught in a rain storm for the first time, and the water just rushed inside running under the glass in the channel over and inside into the interior of his suburban. He then realized he didn't drill or cut drain holes in the felt window slide channel.

I trashed my original channels , does anyone have pictures of there originals showing the drain holes cut out ?

Getting all my ducks in a row .

Thanks ,

Tim

I think there might have been slits in the channel, but I am not sure.

Are your hoses clogged/clear?

I also get moisture leakage during a good rain storm.

Great timing on this post. I am just starting my sliding windows too. Makes total sense for there to be some sort of a drain hole in the channel to allow the water to drain out of the channel and somehow make it into the drain tube.

Hello, Phillip,

Please let us know the results of checking the drains in your Suburban.

You might see little openings in the body-welds in the body inside the fender wells? Those presumably are the drain holes?

I made sure that I also have drain openings in other places between the inner/outer sheet metal under the rear windows, but I am not sure where the water that goes through hoses is/was supposed to drain out.

Thanks,

My drain tubes are clear and clean , was hoping someone had pictures of the original rear window channel felt drain slots. I threw mine away not even thinking about it , they were in bad shape.

There is a metal shelve with slot style holes the water runs down into the drain tubes. Once I had the glass run channel installed I just took my drill and drilled a few holes in the channels for the water to pass though, above the slotted area.

Left side windows are done and now I'll get the right side in the next week or so.

Philip,

Where does the water that goes down those tubes finally exit the inner walls of the lower body? There is an opening where the inner/outer sheet metal meet near the lower-rear inner-lip on my Suburban.
