For helping keep this great

on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: May 2017 Posts: 50 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2017 Posts: 50 | I've had a constant problem with my '50 3100 (56ish 235ci). It starts and runs great until it gets warmed up then it will randomly die at a stop light and not restart for a couple minutes. I've cleaned the fuel tank, replaced all the lines and filter and performed a full ignition tune up. I haven't had the chance to get out in traffic and look under the hood when it does this. (It's looking like I'll have to go on a few long backroad cruises and *hope* it dies for me!) As I said it runs great up until the moment it shuts off and only seems to die after idling for a minute or so (stop light). No amount of choke or flooring the gas seems to make a difference. Once it starts it revs up just fine, never seems to be starved for fuel although the carb feels pretty hot. So after replacing all ignition parts (including 12v wiring) I'm at a loss. Vapor lock? Carb Boiling or in need of a rebuild? New ignition parts with the same problem as the old? Where do I go from here? | | |
