Should the lock be in the open or locked position when installing the rod from the key cylinder?
Should the key/cylinder be in the lock or unlock position or in "center"?
Thoughts will be appreciated.

I don't know if my experience with the '37 is applicable, but my recollection is the key/cylinder was in the unlock position. Note: the cylinder is in the handle in '37 models. One more project done.
