So I dismantled the radio on my 1950 3100 to start the restoration. Thought I'd start simple by media blasting the casing. Much to my surprise it appears that the casing has a copper coating on it. Can anyone tell me what that is all about? Can I just ignore that and continue blasting and then paint when I'm done or is the copper something I need to be concerned about?

I think it might have had something to do with shielding. I would not worry about it, just do your blasting and painting.
