Looking at a '62 Chevy SNB 1/2 ton. I know all the rust spot concerns. Is there anything specific to the 1962 model I need to watch out for?🛠

Suspension differences but nothing to worry about. 1 yr for grill hard to come by clean ones. What is snb? Got me on that acronym.

Short narrow bed. Thought everyone knew that one. May be a moot point as the guy is not a motivated seller. Too busy to respond to my emails and did not provide a phone number.🛠

frame dimensions are different also and x frame in 2 whl dr.. last year year for 235 I6 and also hydr clutch

Thanks. Finally spoke with the owner. He insists the engine is a 230. Going to look later today so hopefully I can figure out the difference.

The truck was almost as advertised. The engine is a 235 and runs as it should. Even has the original air cleaner and someone already plumbed it for a PCV valve. Someone installed a quality floor shift many years ago. A little Bondo in the usual places. Doors open and close nicely. No rot found, floorboards and rocker panels are excellent. Has the factory side mount spare carrier. Bench seat is out of ? and not bolted down. Grill is good, bumpers good and tires are deep in rubber. So............................I pulled the trigger. Got it for what I considered to be a very very good deal. Pick it up Monday. It's been 45 years since I owned a mid 60s Chevy truck. It's going to look good sitting next to the '48 Burb.👍🏻

Congrats. on the purchase of a 1962 short step side. Hope that you have lots of fun with it.

As said by others the 62 was the last year of the Torsion bar suspension. They have a wider frame and therefore different cab mount locations.
The grill went to single 7in headlamps, the interior paint color is lighter than 60/61.

The Stovebolt 235 / 261 engines were used for the last year. (early 63 4x4 did still get them) Light trucks had hydraulic clutch actuation. (heavy trucks kept it for a few more years.)

The side trim and any two tone paint was new in 62 and was used up to the end of style in 66. (Chevys only not GMC)

Thanks Howie, Noticed the clutch when I had it on the lift Monday. Torsion Bar suspension is a new one for me but it seems to work properly. Decoded the casting numbers yesterday and the engine seems original to the truck. Seems to run good. As for photos, I just can't get the hang of Photobucket and my Computer Engineer son just doesn't have the time to do it for me or teach this old dog new tricks.
