I am replacing both rear axles on my '46 and will be installing new wheel studs (5.812) along with new oil deflectors & gaskets. I can hammer in the new studs but not sure what it takes to peen the bolts. Any advice would be appreciated.

When you press(is best) in the new bolts, that should be the end, no additional work required.
