Is there a source of a 3/8 pulley somewhere or am I stuck buying a whole new water pump with the correct pulley. The pulley is the cast type BTW.
Thanks for the input.

At that time you can swap pulleys from your worn out "new" pump to your good old mothballed pump.

Is there a place to connect a cooler or something? I have Hydramatic. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 | Can you post a link/address to that information?
My 1954 Hydra-Matics' pulleys are the same as on my 1954 manual transmission trucks. | | | | | Joined: Dec 2008 Posts: 1,922 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2008 Posts: 1,922 | I've read that the 3/8" belt will just ride lower in the 5/8" groove (than the large belt) but give acceptable life, since the belts all have the same shape - the smaller one is just not using the top area of the big pulley. Why are there different sizes? Different load capacity: the larger belt needs less tension for the same load and will last longer, but higher inertia, weight and cost. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2017 Posts: 120 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2017 Posts: 120 | In my case the belt just contacts the bottom of the pulley and slowly wears away the belt leaving this black rubber dust over the sides of the engine. You are also over tightening the belt in order for it to turn the pump and fan. | | | | | Joined: Oct 2016 Posts: 916 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2016 Posts: 916 | Yikes... you can run a narrower belt in a wider pulley, but the belt should NEVER be allowed to bottom out in that pulley.
