I need to seal up the heater hose ports in my thermostat and water pump as I am not using them. What techniques have you used to accomplish this?

Take a piece of heater hose and loop one to the other.🛠

Holy cow.... that is smart.

On a side note.... What do you guys use for thread sealer so water doesn't leak around the threads of the fittings?

Make sure you use the copper-colored stuff, it has copper in it. It stays semi-solid and keeps the threads lubed in case you want to undo the nuts or bolts.
Most of the other stuff hardens like concrete, and sometimes chips away; and can be darn near impossible to loosen.

Your heater hose fittings should be threaded into the housing, pipe threads. Pipe plugs, brass or iron should fit.

Agreed, this type of plug.

Thanks for the link to the Dorman plug. That's exactly what I need.
