Happy fathers day to all you dads out there! New to the forum and I have what might be considered a 1 ton. She was a 3600 chassis cab from the factory, but sometime in the 50s got what I'm told is a 1 ton rear transplant. Looking for wheels that will clear the drums seems to be tricky, any recommendations? I tried modern chevy hd steelies and they don't quite cut it. Thanks fellas.

Matt, on the Swap Meet forum under parts for sale, Aaron has a set of the original 18" wheels that will fit the 1Ton dually original brake drums. I don't think they will fit on the front as you probably don't have the 1Ton hubs.

The original 18" tube type wheels will be available, but scarce. Another option would be to look for some 19.5" tubeless tires and wheels. A 19.5 wheel and tire will have the same height as an 18" tube type. They were used frequently on step vans like bread trucks and other similar vehicles. Check with bakeries in your area to see if they have old wheels and tires on hand, or find out where their retired vehicles might have been salvaged. 19.5 tires are in use now on motorhomes and other medium-duty trucks and they should be more available and affordable than 18's.

Much appreciated gentlemen! Mostly looking for the tubeless route. Any thoughts on spacers to push modern 16" wheels out 3/8 inch away from the drum? I found dorman studs that should accommodate (part 610-144).

It's a possibility, but go to a larger diameter stud as well as a longer one. That will mean having different size lug nuts front and rear, but you've got a Rube Goldberg setup already- - - -a little more messed up isn't going to hurt!

17.5's might also fit, come on motorhomes, etc. I found a set that fit on larger motor home brakes, that 16's will not fit. Not very common, though.

I just bought a 3800 and I believe the tire said it was a 7.5x17, I might have that backwards. I'll check tomorrow when I'm by the truck. If it does have 17s, those are easy to find tires for. As well as rims.
