I want like to add a heater/defroster to my 1952 Chevy Pickup. It has a 235ci engine and has been converted to 12 volts. I would appreciate any suggestions and comments related to installation and operation of an original or one of the aftermarket heater/defroster units available.

There are lots of options. A couple of the more common ones are the deluxe heater and the recirculating heater. The recirculating heater is less complicated and seems to be more readily available used. I went this route with my 1952 and after struggling with a leaking heater core several times I went with a new Brassworks core and fan. I posted about that here https://www.stovebolt.com/ubbthread...rks_Recirculating_Heate.html#Post1011395

I've got an original Fresh Air heater in my '53 and it works great. I'm not living in Michigan but on a couple -30° mornings here in Iowa I was glad to have that heater. The real trick is to seal your cab up or the draft will pull all the heat out. This old heater is good enough that on 25° - 30° days I have to crack the window if I'm cruising through town.

The recirculating heater in the installation manual at Ed's link above is unlike the recirculating heater in Chuck's link (which is the recirculating heater I am familiar with).

I had a recirculating heater in my 54 pickup which I bought in a cold Dec, and drove it 120 miles in 6 degrees. The windows were rattling from no seals, but that heater kept me toasty warm.
