I'm curious about parts interchangability in the '55-'59 series light trucks.
I have a '58 GMC 1/2ton and Mainly I'm interested in finding out what sheet metal and glass parts will interchange for the cab and front wrap.
My plan for the truck is NOT to restore it 100% but to just clean it up and put it together as a recreational/work vehicle.
I'd like to find out what parts are interchangable from one year to the next or between brands.

Examples: Could a Chevy cab be used with a GMC front? Or visa/versa?
'55 windshield on a '58... Door glass... Stuff like that.
In case I need repairs, or if I'm needing replacement parts.

Thanks for the help

as far as part interchange most things in the cab are the same like glass, doors, latch mechanism, sheet metal replacement parts also interchange like cab corners. the front sheet metal will interchange through the years but of course a 56 fender isn't the same as a 58. i know this is good for chevy i dont know if gmc parts will interchange but they should for the most part.

That's good to hear.
Is there a list somewhere of parts that will swap from one year to another?
My main interest is to keep the truck on the road, and to have a stash of extra sheet metal and glass parts in case something gets bent beyond repair.
I'm usually pretty careful about how I drive, but this truck is a 4WD and that sort of usage increases the likelyhood of damaging something.
I'm not into serious off road use, but even so, knowledge of parts availability is reassuring.
Also, if I find a used parts truck somewhere that isn't an exact match, it would be good to know in advance what parts will swap.

Thanks

no list needed, virtually everything will move from any year to any year - only differences anywhere is the 58/9 frame is a couple inches longer than the 55-7, the grille surround areas are different, and the hood hinge mount holes in the firewall are slightly different - which only matters if you want to replace front sheet metal [you'd hafta use the entire front clip from earlier years on yourrs]

here\'s my \'frankentruk\' , made from 9 different trucks of all TF years, with a 57 title - it's gonna be getting a short fleetside box this winter grin

That is Wonderful News.
So these trucks are called Task Force series by the sounds of it.
The Frankentruk is my kind of rig. Nice work!
