It was all polished up, guessing mostly aluminum, some stainless. Would be perfect for a man cave or in your living room if so inclined. Very comfortable to boot. No recline feature however !

The Martin-Baker ejection seat on the F-4 had a rocket pack to allow ground level, zero speed ejections. A maintenance troop at Korat Thailand managed to get the seat rockets lit on a plane inside the hangar shortly before I got there. It BBQ'ed the poor guy, and then ripped the seat mounts loose and put him and the seat through a metal roof. He didn't survive the incident! Jerry

I've never been really worried about ESD (electro static discharge) except when I was working on ejection seats or other types of explosives. Like HRL said, the seats are made for zero/zero ejections these days. Meaning that they are capable of lifting a 250 lb man quite a ways up from 0 feet up and 0 MPH. Even after everything is 'spent', there's usually some residue that can be lit off from one of those explosives. | | | | | Joined: Aug 2001 Posts: 3,591 Moderator | | Moderator Joined: Aug 2001 Posts: 3,591 | 1967 GMC 9500 Fire Ladder Truck"The Flag Pole"In the Stovebolt Gallery1946 2-Ton grain truck 1946 3/4-ton pickup, 1953 1-ton pickup 1957 1-ton flatbed dually, 1954 Pontiac Straight Eight Of all the things I've lost in my life, I miss my mind the most! | | |
