When I bought my 58 the spare tire rack was just wired under the truck. I've just kept it in the bed up till now but The space is needed for a job tear out. Went to home depot and bought all the hardware needed to hang the tire under the bed. Once the rack was hung and dropped for the tire placement I had to use a floor jack to get it back up to be bolted in. I don't remember it being that much trouble back in 1969. Maybe it's my age but it won't be coming back out in my lifetime. I'll call road service
