When I bought my truck it had 3/8ths bolts threaded into the hinge plate and nutted on the back side inside the door jamb. Well those hinges were pretty much roached so I bought a new set from Chevies of the 40's. I was suprised to see that the new hinges came with 5/16th's bolts, and the hinge plates have been drilled large enough to slide the bolts through.
I'm thinking that at some point the original plates were drilled and tapped out larger for the bigger 3/8ths bolts.
So my question is.........What is the norm with these trucks? Are they supposed to be 3/8 threaded into the plates or 5/16 clearance and nuts on the back side? | | | | | Joined: Jul 2008 Posts: 1,321 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jul 2008 Posts: 1,321 | There is a threaded plate welded to the door jamb with 5/16" bolts holding the hinge.
You could thread the larger hole and drill out your new hinges to match & use larger bolts.. Good luck,
