I used sign painters paint..from my automotive paint supplier. I think it is called "Bulls eye".
It comes in dinky cans in a bazillion colors.

I painted mine on with a brush...thick...it flowed out like glass. I think it is UV tolerant too.

I seen fingernail polish used for emblems, and model paint too, but the pin striping one shot is prolly the most durable

You can get it at any local hobby shop and it comes in hundreds of color. I used a brush to paint some emblems and a really cheap air brush (think Wal-Mart) to paint others. The air brush works really well where you can easily mask off areas you don't want painted.
