on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Apr 2017 Posts: 40 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Apr 2017 Posts: 40 | Hollo and thanks for any information. I have purchased a 54' 235 to replace a 216 in a 40 truck. I've read and searched the forums and tech section. My replacement 235 is front mount. The tech article references a 55' and newer motor. I'm under the impression the 54 will work and be easier (?) to swap. It was purchased from an elderly friend who drag raced 6's back in the day. It is a stock truck motor with everything except the starter. Turns, makes compression, ect. $150 so I should be in a good spot. I'll need to use the 40's bell housing, clutch, pressure plate, but I'm not sure about the flywheel. Some are 9 and others 11 ?

Some of the larger 1954-62 pressure plates could be a tight fit in the bellhousing. Also remember 6 and 12 volt flywheel teeth are different and can not be interchanged.
