My question concerns the center metal strip that runs down the middle of the vent against the screen and turns back to the back of the vent. Mine is bent in a "S" curve so elegantly that I wonder if that is the way it is suposed to be. My gut tells me that it is bent and needs to be straightned. How should it be?

If yours is still functional though and you like its present config then keep it that way.
