They look so much nicer. But I don't want the expense to have it removed unless I can buy the car at a good price.

I took off the generator, intake and exhaust manifolds and the distributor. Scrape all the big stuff with putty knife and screwdriver. I covered the floor in my shop with cardboard and old newspapers to absorb the Awesome (dollar store cleaner) and rinse water. Spray, brush, rinse. Repeat until clean. Get paint from Bill Hirsh. Looks great now. http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee39/h4040510/Miss%20Daisy/DSC_1348_zpsy1diekg1.jpgHugh | | | | | Joined: Nov 1995 Posts: 5,727 24601 | | 24601 Joined: Nov 1995 Posts: 5,727 | Ron, As a non-mechanic who has done this very thing (and is about to do it again, thanks to Hotrod Lincoln deadlining my engine ... ), I can vouch for the fact that it isn't a huge project to yank an engine, clean it (and the engine bay) and put it back in. You could probably do it over the course of two weekends with the week in between. Lots of other easy things you could do while you have it out, too. Just sayin' -- in for a dime,in for a dollar ...

Probably faster, too. A hoist or chainfall and simple tools is all you need. I recently pulled and replaced an engine in an old Mustang in a long weekend. | | |
