Home by 10:00 pm, no issues. Not sure why the border guards are suspicious when I bring the car over. On the way into the US, they asked if I was going to sell it. On the way back into Canada, they asked if I done any modifications to it in the US. A random stranger bought me my meal in PA.

Made it home yesterday afternoon, no issues at all outside of an extra grumpy toll booth attendant.
Climbed Afton Mountain on the interstate in high gear at ~55 MPH which was all the GMC could do and did well.

Really nice to see everyone and meet new Stovebolters.
Thanks to John for hosting and everyone else for pitching in and making it such a great gathering.

Thanks too to Tim and Alec for their help, guidance, and patience on Friday. Sorry we took so long getting to the homecoming and missed some time to hangout and talk trucks.

I posted elsewhere also. Mostly uneventful trip except for the engine hiccuping and my propensity to get lost. Cut off then keeps going. Had a great time and gained 3 lbs. thanks to Don's cooking. Great food. I will feel tired for a week. Sorry that Peggy could not put in an appearance.

Northern contingent arrived at the Northern headquarters approximately 5:30pm. No issues, other than the dry rotted cardboard roof lining flying out of the Presidential cab!
No birds were harmed!

The stovebolt gods watched over us on the way home, no rain until 3 miles from home, and it has been raining ever since. Blue tape water sealer kept me dry, however.
Caravan with Grigg and Cosmo and Tim was fun, making lots of people happy and smiling along the way. Of course, traveling with Grigg, we also had great BBQ lunch on the way!!
Truck has some occasional hesitation, will have to get on that.

California (md) contingent stayed to clean up the mess you all made and then was escorted off the property by none over than the grand poobah himself around 1600. Home by 1610. Tired and content.

Jim, thanks for the power wash!

Had a great time motoring home with Grigg at the lead! Timely stop for great barbecue. Had my hands full travelling through horse country well-paved road with Grigg putting the GMC through her paces. I had Grigg in front, Alec behind, felt like I was back in time to the 1950's!

I ran out of gas before I got to the Maryland/VA Bridge. Luckily I had a five gallon can of gas with me just in case. Had a great time as well. Nice meeting so many like minded folks.

As Hambone said -- we had a nice little road trip. Cosmo, you think you guys went fast, Hambone and I made it all the way from HQ to *California* with no problems, on less than a quarter tank of gas AND in only 10 minutes -- beat THAT, y'all smile

The '60-'66 crew had a fun time cruising (had a '62 and a '63 in line going down the road). Got to opcheck my new turn signals & brake lights in the '63.

Fun times.

My 20 minute commute went fine other than being cold and damp (no heat and well ventilated cab).

Had a great time seeing old friends and meeting new!

Thanks again John and Peggy for hosting!

Got home mid-afternoon today, after a stopover in Knoxville to visit my sister and a detour to Chattanooga to catch up with a former college buddy and fellow southeast Asia vet who has MS. "Collateral damage".

It was a great weekend- - - -thanks for the encouragement to make the trip!

I made it home safe and sound yesterday afternoon around 4:00 PM. I angled my way back to Iowa through VA and W VA via Highway 33. It was a beautiful ride without a drop of rain. Spent Sunday night just outside of Columbus, OH. It was getting dark and there were too many roadkill deer, so it was best to call it a day. The rest of the ride (OH, IN, IL, & IA) was completed via the interstate highways. Made great time, but not very scenic. No problems encountered in my 2,148 mile round trip and the Beemer ran like a clock!

It was great meet everyone and put faces together with names. Thanks to John and Peggy for making this event possible and thanks to the entire ODSS for putting together a fantastic weekend. I truly enjoyed it!!

Ron-I have a 2007 BMW R1200GS Adventure. It's got an 8.7 gallon gas tank! You got me wondering about my mileage and fuel. My expense for 2,148 miles was $135.90 and the bike got 46.4 mpg. The average fuel cost per gallon of premium was $2.93, not too bad..... thumbs_up

Bill-Thanks, riding a motorcycle isn't for everyone, but I truly enjoy it! It was great to meet you as well. Congrats on being named the 2017 "Ned" award recipient. It's quite an honor and as a true ambassador of the ODSS you're well-deserving of the award.

Best regards,

Well, I'm officially home with some snags that could of ended bad and costly.
Lets just say I brought home five gallons of new oil I didn't need.
Tim is safely snuggled in his hotel room and the road trip will continue tomorrow. Read about it here in a few days, when we have time to sort out the pictures and do a write up.

Tim has been dropped off at the St. Louis airport on time and I just got home.
What a week!
Day by day report will start tomorrow.
Topics will be rain, break downs, rain, great help getting back on the road, rain, high places, Rain, low places, rain and flooding.
Did I mention RAIN?
There are several events we can't post about though.
But if you know Tim, use your imagination.
I need some rest now.

SUNSHINE!
Still raining in mid Mo. and record flooding.
A lot of the roads we drove, are under water.
Went back to the lake today and the yard is a mess but, no house damage.
Sure had a great time doing the walk-a-bout across the country with you.
Check back in when you actually make it home and give Karen a hug for us.

Tim, it was great to see you again and glad you made it home safe and sound. So do you actually admit to people that you went to the US to spend a week with guys and their trucks and got rained on the whole time?! Anyway, we are glad you did!
