Not sure why the border guards are suspicious when I bring the car over. On the way into the US, they asked if I was going to sell it. On the way back into Canada, they asked if I done any modifications to it in the US. A random stranger bought me my meal in PA. | | | | Joined: May 2005 Posts: 8,877 . | . Climbed Afton Mountain on the interstate in high gear at ~55 MPH which was all the GMC could do and did well.
Really nice to see everyone and meet new Stovebolters. Thanks to John for hosting and everyone else for pitching in and making it such a great gathering.
Thanks too to Tim and Alec for their help, guidance, and patience on Friday. Sorry we took so long getting to the homecoming and missed some time to hangout and talk trucks.

Cut off then keeps going. Had a great time and gained 3 lbs. thanks to Don's cooking. Great food. I will feel tired for a week. Sorry that Peggy could not put in an appearance.

Blue tape water sealer kept me dry, however. Caravan with Grigg and Cosmo and Tim was fun, making lots of people happy and smiling along the way. Of course, traveling with Grigg, we also had great BBQ lunch on the way!! Truck has some occasional hesitation, will have to get on that.

Had a great time motoring home with Grigg at the lead! Timely stop for great barbecue. Had my hands full travelling through horse country well-paved road with Grigg putting the GMC through her paces. I had Grigg in front, Alec behind, felt like I was back in time to the 1950's!

Cosmo, you think you guys went fast, Hambone and I made it all the way from HQ to *California* with no problems, on less than a quarter tank of gas AND in only 10 minutes -- beat THAT, y'all The '60-'66 crew had a fun time cruising (had a '62 and a '63 in line going down the road). Got to opcheck my new turn signals & brake lights in the '63. Fun times.

I angled my way back to Iowa through VA and W VA via Highway 33. It was a beautiful ride without a drop of rain. Spent Sunday night just outside of Columbus, OH. It was getting dark and there were too many roadkill deer, so it was best to call it a day. The rest of the ride (OH, IN, IL, & IA) was completed via the interstate highways. Made great time, but not very scenic. No problems encountered in my 2,148 mile round trip and the Beemer ran like a clock!
It was great meet everyone and put faces together with names. Thanks to John and Peggy for making this event possible and thanks to the entire ODSS for putting together a fantastic weekend. I truly enjoyed it!! | | | | Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 4,109 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2001 Posts: 4,109 | I can't imagine but glad to hear you made it safe and sound. What model do you have? BTW my Bday is 5-12 I will leave off the year. I went back and figured mileage and distance, 1723 miles and 22mpg. Did not figure cost yet. Probably don't want to know.

It's got an 8.7 gallon gas tank! You got me wondering about my mileage and fuel. My expense for 2,148 miles was $135.90 and the bike got 46.4 mpg. The average fuel cost per gallon of premium was $2.93, not too bad..... Bill-Thanks, riding a motorcycle isn't for everyone, but I truly enjoy it! It was great to meet you as well. Still raining in mid Mo. and record flooding. A lot of the roads we drove, are under water. Went back to the lake today and the yard is a mess but, no house damage. Sure had a great time doing the walk-a-bout across the country with you. Check back in when you actually make it home and give Karen a hug for us.
