Just taking a guess, I think that is Mariner Blue, code 234G.

From what i can find in the reference book, the interior was slate gray, with a brown seat and door inserts. I'll admit to not necessarily being an AD expert, some of the AD guys may have more insight in to the interior colors than I do.

For a '51 I have been told the interior color was a maroonish color, a brownish color, and a grayish color. I talked to a guy named Bob Adler who is a well known expert in AD restorations. He says that Carter's sells an interior paint that is the correct color. I have not yet put it on anything so don't yet know what color I would call it. I have also heard the seats and door panels were brown as longbox says but others say they were maroon. Bowtie Bits sells the "original" color door panels and they are maroon. The seat in my '51 Deluxe appears original and its brown. I am amazed that there is so much confusion. There HAS to be trucks around that still are original and you would think that the correct colors would be common knowledge.

dbone, first of all bless you for being a peace officer. boltare is right on w/ Bob Adler, he does restoration on the AD's and has 100 or so of these girls out back (I've seem 'em).

Depending on what type of restoration you are doing don't be in a big hurry to throw away that neat little home made grill guard. This is the character of the truck, IMHO, dents and all. You've got the correct mirror arm on the driver's side...starting with vent windows on the '51, the arm was 'bent down' so that the vent window when in wide open mode would not break the mirror every time you opened the door (Bob Adler told me this when I met him).

That could be windsor blue, but I doubt it. Check someplace that the sun don't shine. No joke, look under the rubber holding the glass in place. Mariner blue is really dark.
Interior color is generally called "champagne" for lack of a better word. I like the stuff that chevy duty sells (chevy duty has changed their name, but I cannot recall the new name), as it is enamel, and Carter sells lacquer. The steering wheel and column was brown originally. And the seat and door panel was maroon.
As usual, your truck has been worked on; that windshield has been replaced; and someone failed to replace the stainless stripe that goes around it. Unless this truck was affected by the Korean War, and the stainless was left off at the factory.

I just bought the interior paint from Carter for my 50. It was enamel. I ordered the interior color, which matched quite well, but I am a little puzzled by the column and steering wheel paint. Even though the cans had the right number from the catalog on them, the column and wheel paint looks very close to the interior paint, it appears to only have a little more metalic in it. I too thought it should be browner.
